Thank You Card

This card came about because I had a vision in my head of colors I wanted to use on a card. And the colors that popped out in my head were a dark, rich blue and orange. I used the blue for the card base and then added hints of orange in my patterned paper background and in the flower I stamped. I didn't want an overwhelming amount of orange, just enough to make the blue more vibrant. I'm not sure why I chose this to be a thank you card, but the greeting seemed to fit well in the chipboard oval I wanted to use. I am always thankful for many things, so I'm sure this card will be used. :)

Birthday Wishes

Hi again. After receiving some new paper by October Afternoon, I just had to create a card with its bright colors. I just love the striped patterned paper, there are so many wonderful color combos you can create with it. And the strip of circled blue paper, well, that is on the back of the striped paper so you really get two great papers in one. It is so sad how excited I get about paper, but we all have to have a passion in life, right? Mine just happens to be scrapbooking and cardmaking where I get to use these beautiful papers everyday, or at least the days I find time to create. :)

Autumn Fallin' From Trees

I thought I would share with you one of my favorite layouts. I made this a few months ago for a challenge and I was so thrilled when I got a comment on it by one of my favorite scrapbookers/cardmakers, Jennifer McGuire. She is one of the Hero Blog top designers and has her own column in the monthly Creating Keepsakes magazine. Her work is amazing and she inspires me in so many ways.

Anyway, for this challenge we had to pick a sketch to go off of and with the sketch I chose I knew exactly what pictures I wanted to use. And yes, I said pictures, plural. So many people thought that this was one big picture of the kids but really it is four pictures put together. In case you can't read it the title is Autumn Fallin' From Trees (a title to one of my favorite songs by Jaymay) and the journaling says, "How could you not love the autumn with these cute faces peekin' out at you?"

Heartfelt Wishes

This is a card I created for a color challenge. There is nothing to win with this challenge, you just have to create a card using the colors that were given. In this case it was blue, orange, yellow, green, and white. The color names were more detailed, I just gave you the basic color names. I knew right away I wanted the blue to be the accent color so it could pop off my page. That color just stood out to me more than the others, besides, it was a little more bold than the other muted tones. It made sense to me to use it sparingly but for it to catch your attention. I think the card does that, it draws your eye to the blue flower when you first view the card. Just a simple card but I love it just the same.

Wishing You the Best Day Ever

I was making some valentine cards a couple of weeks ago and thought that since I had out my heart stamps, I would use one of them to make a birthday card. Who said hearts were only for Valentine's Day? I love to use hearts for lots of things and even use them on my scrapbook pages. On this card I added the black ribbon at the last minute and thought that it turned out really well. It makes the card pop and helps bring out the darker colors of the background paper.

Someday Your Prince Will Come

Here is a LO I did a couple of weeks ago for a challenge for Hero Arts. We had to use stamped hearts in a different way than just a traditional heart. I used my heart stamps to create the petals on the flowers and to make the blue butterflies. The pictures from this LO were taken in September. Riley had found a little frog at the boys' football practice and wouldn't let it go. I'm surprised the poor little thing didn't die as hard as she was squeezing it, but she just wanted to make sure he didn't get away. I was grossed out by it all, but looking back at these pictures, it was pretty cute.

Thinking of You

This card was made for a color challenge over at Papertrey Ink. The colors that were picked were Summer Sunrise, Ripe Avocado, Ocean Tides, and Pure Poppy. If you make a card for this challenge, they will randomly pick a winner to receive the 2008 cardstock collection. I figured that was a great incentive for me to make a card and I loved the colors that were picked because they made for a bright and cherry card.

Elephant Birthday Card

I just love my new stamp set from Hero Arts. It is full of cute elephants, phrases, and a couple of other things. It is perfect for a little kid card or even an adult card. It just depends on the color combo you go with and how cutesy you make it. I would consider this card more youth than adult because it looks more youthful with the balloons and all.

Birthday Girl

I figured it is about time that I scrapbooked this page from Riley's birthday back in August. It seems to have been sitting at my desk for some time and I just could never come up with a good sketch in my head to do her page. But, just recently I acquired some yummy paper that just hollers girly and cute. Once I got this paper I knew I must have been waiting to do this LO for a reason, that reason being the brand new Cosmo Cricket pattern paper line Girl Friday. I just love the paper with her pictures and it just seemed to pull it all together.
