PreKindergarten

Hi. Decided to share a LO with you today. I haven't been doing too much scrapping lately but I am hoping this page will jump start my desire to make more pages. I have so many pictures that need to be scrapped but if I could just tackle one LO a week, I should be caught up in no time. Can you say New Year's Resolution? That might be one I can actually keep up on. :o)

This LO is of my daughter from the 2009-2010 school year. We sent her to Pre Kindergarten instead of Kindergarten strictly because she was so young (just turned 5 before the school year started) and I wanted to capture this time in her life in a scrapbook page.

Gotta love that October Afternoon paper and those wonderful American Craft thickers. Be still my heart.

So Cute

Hi everyone! I just had to pop in and share this LO that was totally inspired by Kelly Purkey and her first sketch in the Sketchbook 2 download. I don't ever download classes but when I saw that Kelly was offering the Sketchbook 2 class on her blog again, I just couldn't pass it up. Boy, was that the best decision I have made in a long time. I just know now that I will be patiently waiting for her next class to be offered because I am hooked now.

I have to say, this is a pretty simply LO, but I just love it to pieces. And it works perfectly for my vacation album. None of my pages in there are too time consuming, otherwise I would lose the motivation to complete it. I can't wait to use more of her sketches to help me finish this project.

Two Wheelin

Got a layout for ya today. This one is of Riley trying to ride without training wheels. When she was four she thought that she was ready to ride without training wheels, but come to find out, she wasn't. So we put the two wheelin aside for a year and come this spring Riley was bound and determined to ride with only two wheels. And there must have been some sort of feeling in her that knew she was ready because once she got on her bike she took off on her own and she was riding like a pro. AAhhh, sweet success.

Photos are from last year on this layout. But, I updated the journaling to this year to explain the whole story.

Love those craft butterflies that I cut out of Jillibean Soup Paper. And also have to love those flair badges from American Crafts.

Ready for the Ball

I have a new love, the Dear Lizzy line by American Crafts. I absolutely love all the wonderful designs on the patterned paper and the great embellishments to go with it. If you have a little girl, this line is a must. And for myself, only having one girl amongst three boys, this line really gets me into girly mode and I am already envisioning all the wonderful Riley pages I am going to complete with this line.

See that beautiful ribbon along the bottom of my page. I would so buy a 100 ft spool of this if I could. The best invention of decorative ribbon.

Also love the adhesive fabric sheets. I used a section of one to die cut and adhere to the inside of my butterfly. So fun to play with any many possibilities.

Dancing Girl

This is a scrapbook page I did for a Hero Arts challenge. The week's challenge was to use polka dots on our creations. I don't have a lot of stamps with polka dots but I do have plenty of patterned paper with it. The fun part was trying to pick out what paper I wanted. I had this Pink Paislee scalloped circle for a while and thought to give it a try.

You have to love the journaling sprouts by Jillibean Soup. Check out the sprouts HERE and HERE. They are so great and come in a variety of colors. I used a couple on this page to fit all my jounaling and it worked out pretty good to line them up so my words kept flowing. And if you notice my colors, I went off the colors in the patterned paper to create this page. At first I didn't know how it would all look, but I ended up very happy with the end result and I think the colors make the page stand out.

My Little Cheerleader

Wow, I hadn't realized it had been since the middle of last week since I posted. Sorry!! The end of the school year gets a little busy with the last of soccer and graduations and all. I have a great page for you today to make up for it.

I made this page for Riley a month or two ago using all of my favorite BasicGrey stuff. I just love their patterned papers. They are so full of great designs and color, especially the Urban Prairie line. That is one of my favorites. And for this time of year, the colors are perfect for springtime.

The pictures for this LO are from last spring at Homecoming time here in Rockwell City. Every year our cheerleading squad puts on a morning camp to teach the kids some cheers and the school fight song. Riley just happened to be old enough to go this year and she loved it. Then the night of skit night all the little kids get to perform their cheers and the school song. She did great and really loved being in front of everyone. She is sooo going to be a cheerleader when she grows up. But then again, she does love her sports as well. Tough decisions for a little kid. :)

I left you Friday with a layout before we headed out to Minneapolis and now I am coming back with another LO for you. This one I completed Sunday night for the weekly challenge at the Hero Club Blog. The challenge for the week was to create a window on your card or LO and I chose to create one on a layout. And to incorporate Hero Arts stamps, I stamped the window frame with flowers from the Clear Design: Four Dolls. I had the idea for this page late last week and believe me it was hard letting it sit in my head for the whole weekend before I could actually put the page together. I like the end result, but I may have changed the background cardstock color to help make the rest of the page pop more. I don't quite feel the pop with the current pinkish color. Oh well, in a bit of a time crunch for this one, but I will exhaust all options next time.

Halloween Layout

I thought I would leave you here with another layout I created before we head off this weekend for Minneapolis. (The kids are so looking forward to this, should be quite the adventure.) Anyway, I know these pictures are from Halloween, but I'm sure you have caught on that I don't get my pictures scrapped on time. I don't feel I am very far behind though because my oldest pictures to scrap are from the fall. That isn't too bad considering how many pictures I take. Anyway I had an old kit from October from Scarlet Lime (awesome monthly kits) and the Halloween themed stuff in there was great and everything came from the kit to create this LO.

Autumn Fallin' From Trees

I thought I would share with you one of my favorite layouts. I made this a few months ago for a challenge and I was so thrilled when I got a comment on it by one of my favorite scrapbookers/cardmakers, Jennifer McGuire. She is one of the Hero Blog top designers and has her own column in the monthly Creating Keepsakes magazine. Her work is amazing and she inspires me in so many ways.

Anyway, for this challenge we had to pick a sketch to go off of and with the sketch I chose I knew exactly what pictures I wanted to use. And yes, I said pictures, plural. So many people thought that this was one big picture of the kids but really it is four pictures put together. In case you can't read it the title is Autumn Fallin' From Trees (a title to one of my favorite songs by Jaymay) and the journaling says, "How could you not love the autumn with these cute faces peekin' out at you?"

Someday Your Prince Will Come

Here is a LO I did a couple of weeks ago for a challenge for Hero Arts. We had to use stamped hearts in a different way than just a traditional heart. I used my heart stamps to create the petals on the flowers and to make the blue butterflies. The pictures from this LO were taken in September. Riley had found a little frog at the boys' football practice and wouldn't let it go. I'm surprised the poor little thing didn't die as hard as she was squeezing it, but she just wanted to make sure he didn't get away. I was grossed out by it all, but looking back at these pictures, it was pretty cute.

Birthday Girl

I figured it is about time that I scrapbooked this page from Riley's birthday back in August. It seems to have been sitting at my desk for some time and I just could never come up with a good sketch in my head to do her page. But, just recently I acquired some yummy paper that just hollers girly and cute. Once I got this paper I knew I must have been waiting to do this LO for a reason, that reason being the brand new Cosmo Cricket pattern paper line Girl Friday. I just love the paper with her pictures and it just seemed to pull it all together.
